In the bustling final days of 2025 and the dawn of 2026, while the world outside is caught in a relentless race against time, there exists a place where all urgency seems to dissolve at the tip of a brush. This is the world of Calligraphy Artist Thanh Huong — a soul seeking the perfect balance between traditional strokes and the modern spirit.

Calligrapher Thanh Huong, affectionately known as “Bà Đồ Thanh Hương,” is an artist dedicated to the devotion of Vietnamese calligraphy. With over a decade spent by the inkstone, she views calligraphy not merely as an art form, but as a vessel to sow the seeds of “Tâm” (the Heart), conveying life’s ethics and profound faith. For her, every brushstroke is a bridge between tradition and modernity, as well as a path of compassion through charitable works, bringing warmth and serenity to the community.
Since embarking on the path of calligraphy, what life lessons have you gathered for yourself?
I’ve realized that every individual holds a unique value in this life: no two are the same. It is a natural law of balance that we should respect and embrace. This realization has granted me a perspective of deep understanding and empathy, helping me stay optimistic and in love with life.

You have navigated many ups and downs and witnessed the shifts of time. Looking back at your calligraphy from your youth compared to now, how has the character or the “soul” in your ink evolved with age?
There hasn’t been a drastic change, though I find that my earlier work expressed a sense of raw strength and firm resolve more vividly.

Today’s youth move at a rapid pace, yet calligraphy requires slowness. In your opinion, what does the “slowness” of a brushstroke offer that the hurried world outside cannot?
In today’s frantic rhythm, calligraphy serves as a necessary pause to restore balance. It is a form of “moving meditation” that cultivates resilience and patience. It purifies the mind, making worries and stress suddenly feel weightless.

If someone who knows nothing about calligraphy watched you write, what is the very first thing you would hope they feel, even before they understand the meaning of the words?
I hope they can feel a sense of Peace (Bình An) in every movement of the brush.

Artist Thanh Huong’s story draws to a close, yet the echoes of the stillness she imparts remain, serving as a gentle reminder as we stand on the threshold of a new year. In a world that constantly demands us to be faster and stronger, it is the “slowness” of calligraphy that provides the strength to maintain our character and compassion.
We hope that whether or not you understand the intricacies of this art, the first and last thing you hold onto when observing her strokes is a sense of “Bình An” (Peace). May that serenity accompany you in every step, every decision, and every “word of love” you intend to share.
Our deepest thanks to Artist Thanh Huong for providing this precious pause, reminding us that the most brilliant radiance often emanates from humility and a tranquil soul.
