Interdisciplinary Creation #3: Soul, Scene and Sentiments

Soul, Scene and Sentiments

Our interdisciplinary journey continues … A looky-loo is not without an anticipation; A soul is not without a yearn for connection, as to the awe.
People would wear a city on their chests, a nation on their hearts. As with the model, she is wearing merchandises inspired from the beautiful constructions in Vietnam. One being the Golden Bridge in Da Nang, Vietnam and the other being the Dragon installation of Nguyen Hue flower street in HCMC, Vietnam.
Drawing inspiration not only from the spectacles but also from the history with Vietnamese folk paintings. The calculated typography placement remind these extrinsic inspirations.

POEMS: SOUL, SCENE AND SENTIMENTS

The poem collection (written by Viet Thang) explores the relationship between the Soul (Nhân), the Scene (Cảnh), and Sentiment (Tình):

When the Soul encounters the Scene, Emotion is born.

Emotion borrows the Scene to manifest itself.

The Soul uses Emotion to sculpt the Scene.

Poem 1: The Golden Bridge

Westward from the heart of Da Nang City

The Golden Bridge floats a path through the mist

Upon stone palms, a silent tryst

Bound to the depths of an aching allegiance

Poem 2: The Golden Bridge

Love, let us climb where the white clouds play

To drift a while in the ease of the day

Through celestial rifts, the gold path wind

Leaning on dreams, as the waking world fades.

Poem 3: Nguyen Hue Flower Street (The year of the Dragon)

On Nguyen Hue Flower Street, in Saigon’s embrace

Bamboo and rattan weave a debt of grace

A hundred-meter coil, as the winds carry near

Where bamboo scales breathe, and the spirit wakes clear.

Poem 4: Nguyen Hue Flower Street (The year of the Dragon)

Walking the sacred spirit of Spring

On Flower Street, footsteps to stirring hearts cling

The Dragon leans low, etched by its worldliness

As the thrum of the soul starts to gently unfurl.
