Drinking tea is not only a long-standing cultural and spiritual tradition of the Vietnamese people in particular and Asia in general, but over time, it has been influenced by younger cultural trends and the tea-drinking community. The diversity in tea enjoyment is no longer limited to the group of users identified by their simple and rustic appearance; today, young people with unique personal styles who dare to express their individuality also have their own taste in tea.
Thus, Dremachi was born—an eclectic space blending the melancholy of the times with the humor of youth, mixing nostalgia and modernity, East and West, where “a cup of tea is the beginning of a conversation.” Each pot of tea isn’t necessarily elaborate in its preparation, but transcends the complexity of form and technique to focus on sharing and connecting with one another. Dremachi uses the imagery of brewing tea to symbolize brewing the joys and sorrows of each person as they visit Dremachi.
Each sip of tea is a moment of quiet reflection, a time for honest conversation and connection. In the space of Dremachi, they are young people who love eclecticism, can be creative with jewelry, and ask each other questions: “How was your day?” “What’s for the evening?” “Even though I know that…” and so, the emotions of each individual are released along with the taste of the tea.
Dremachi draws inspiration from connecting young people with contemporary psychological issues to develop tea products that allow groups of young people to spend quality time together, understand each other, or offer emotional support. There are teas that are gently relaxing, bitter teas, sweet teas… Each type is used depending on how it is consumed to spark conversations and encourage sharing.
Ultimately, culture is about resonance and continuity, so let Dremachi’s tea culture bring new life and vitality.
Regarding the design of the patterns for identifying these teas, Dremachi did not use the conventional approach of telling a story about tea. Instead, we borrowed the method of each participant in a workshop sharing their emotions through patterns by asking: “How are you feeling right now?” Participants then sought to express their emotions through different materials, colors, and textures. From these emotional forms, we developed artistic photographic patterns for product design. It is a connection to the process of brewing tea – brewing emotions – sharing feelings.
